This past month I’ve been on a self imposed spending ban, which didn’t go particularly well. With the release of the Republique du Chiffon Ernest coat, I needed to make a winter coat. So I had to buy the pattern and of course the material to go with it. I’ve also found my AW wardrobe to be lacking in the me made department so I’ve been having to buy bits here and there. Now I have enough to keep my occupied I shouldn’t really be spending anymore but here’s what I have my eye on at the moment!
My one rtw weakness has always been khaki green utility style jackets (I own 7 different styles) I never felt the need to make one of my own but then enters the Kelly Anorak from Closet Case Files. It looks like it might be a challenge but I want to add to my utility jacket with a me made one.
Continuing on the wardrobe staple theme, pinafores definitely fall into that category. They are perfect for stylish A/W layering and the Ivy Pinafore from Jennifer Lauren is fab! The gable top is pretty great too.
What’s a pay day wish list without a Wear Lemonade pattern? This time I am lusting over the Maria Jacket. I like the classic shape and think it will look great in some statement fabric.
Pay Day this month has crept up on me, I can’t believe we are at the end of the month. Sadly pay day this month has also passed me by. With a holiday looming, my money went as quickly as it came. So this months pay day wish list is mostly sadly just that, wishing. But making sacrifices for a holiday is hardly the biggest hard ship.
Lets jump into my wish list.
First up is fabrics. This month my fabrics are all from Liberty. The reason for this. I have a gift card. My friend very kindly got me a Liberty gift card for my birthday and I have patiently been waiting to get spending. So all my fabric browsing has been on the Liberty website thinking about what lovely fabric I can buy without making a dent in my own bank account. So these are the fabrics I have been lusting after. I sadly don’t have enough for all of them so I will have to make a decision. Let me know in the comments which is your fav. But knowing me I’ll go in store and will end of being wowed by something different.
First up is the Juniper Tana Lawn. Every time I scroll through the Liberty website this fabric catches my eye. My heart says this is my favourite and the red colour way in particular but I am fond of the black with the yellow flowers!
Hard decisions but I have this dress in mind for the red fabric. Dreamy!
Otherwise I really like the girliness of the Delilah fabric in this green. I don’t really have fabrics like it but feel it very me and can imagine lots of dresses made up on this beautiful fabric, perhaps even the Wear Lemonade top that you are about to see in the patterns section.
Lastly is the Lolly Tana Lawn. Again like the Juniper I’m having a colour dilemma but as much I like the green, my sewing visions are having a red moment. I can imagine the dress I previously mentioned made up in this fabric . Oh Liberty why have you got to make such beautiful fabrics?
I have been really interested in sewing my own bras recently. I’ve seen some beautiful ones popping up on the Internet and seeing as underwear is so damn expensive I have been considering whether this can be a new skill I can learn.
The first pattern I have been lusting after is the Boylston Bra by Orange Lingerie and this is mainly because I saw this bra made by Miss Make in this gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. for Cotton and Steel rayon.
Isn’t this just the most beautiful thing you have ever seen? I have some wonderful Liberty scraps left over and I think there will be enough to knock up this bra. Imagine this in the Liberty floral from my Birthday dress, ahhh perfect!
Another bra pattern I have been eyeing up for a while is the Watson bra by Cloth Habit. I really like bras like this, not being particularly blessed in this department is something that has never bothered me as I love easy bras without wires. So much comfort. So the Watson bra is definitely one that could become a sewing staple.
Last up on my pattern wish list is another Wear Lemonade pattern. Back in my Pay Day Sewing Wishlist I included the Lila skirt. I just love the Wear Lemonade patterns, the branding is so on point and their styling is everything! I am tempted to sign up to their take on an Netflix for sewing patterns. I love so many of them it seems like a good investment. My favourite this month is the Falbala blouse. I love a ruffle so it was tie between this and the Leia. See I said I need this subscription.
Lastly, I have a bonus item for this months sewing wish list and it is a book. This month I am intrigued by the new book by Rosie Martin – No Patterns Needed: DIY Couture from Simple Shapes. I’ve seen some beautiful images on Instagram and there are so many things that I can see myself wearing so I might just need to give this book a go. Any one tried it?
So that’s it for this month. What do you think of my picks? Do you have a favourite? What’s on your pay day sewing wish list this month? Let me know in the comments below.
It’s that time of the month again, pay day is here and my wish list has grown. Sadly, what with booking holidays and all of that stuff I didn’t manage to get much from last month’s wish list but I am definitely still lusting after it. That being said I still plan to add to it, you can’t stop a girl from wishing.
There have been quite a few pattern releases creeping up on us and I’m need of a wardrobe update, what with this so called summer approaching. (Sun if you’re reading please start shining soon.)
This classic 60s shape can be made in everything from classic fabrics to jazzier pattern fabrics. I love the sleeveless version and feel it will be the perfect addition to my handmade wardrobe.
I’m also really loving Meghan Nielsen patterns at the moment. There are quite a few so it’s hard to choose one. But if I had to, I think my current favourite is this one from the Darling Range. I quite like the ease of the unfitted version and think it will make a great casual summer dress in a light chambray. Perfect for travelling and when you don’t want something clinging to you in the heat.
Now there’s no hiding the fact that I love dungarees. I already have the Kwik Sew K1438 dungaree pattern as a wip but that doesn’t stop me lusting after the Pauline Alice Turia dungarees. I’ve seen quite a few bloggers making them and I think it’s about time I made my own.
Alongside, a bunch of new patterns I have of course been eyeing up some new fabric.
First up a stiped jersey. I love a striped top, well who doesn’t? But as of yet I haven’t actually sewn one myself. So I’m very tempted to rectify this with this really cool stripe jersey. I like how the stripes are zig zag which I think adds a cool twist.
It’s no secret that I love a print but this time I have one that isn’t a floral! I really like this lip print fabric and think it would make a great jumpsuit.
Remember those Turia dungarees? Now how about those in this awesome floral denim fabric? Yes, just perfect.
Now that’s all for this months pay day sewing wish list. Having just booked a holiday I need to be a bit more careful with how I spend my money so I can spend it all on lovely sewing things when I go away. What’s better than visiting sewing shops in places you’ve never been before? Currently I’m off to Vancouver, Portland and Seattle so any recommendations, please send them my way!
What’s on your pay day sewing wish list? What patterns and fabric did you buy last month?
