Me Made May 2016 – Week 2

Whoah! Week 2 of Me Made May has been a busy one!

My working week has felt like the longest ever and my to do list doesn’t seem to be shrinking! But I unleashed my teen fan girl self at a Busted gig at Wembley and completed day 2 of my Pattern Making course at LCF.

I’m still going strong with my Me Made May pledge of wearing at least one me made item each day. So check out what I’ve been wearing this week and find out my Me Made May thoughts at the end.

 Day 8

A hot, hot, hot Sunday was spent at the beach wearing this hacked Simplicity 1166 skirt complete with Cath Kidston heart buttons to match my trusty bandana.

Day 9

Clearly I was feeling red early in the week because I spent Monday wearing my Tilly and the Buttons Miette skirt in a red linen, which looks lovely but creases so easily! I paired it with my favourite Cribs t-shirt.

Day 10

The warm weather didn’t stick around for too long and by Tuesday the tights were back on with Simplicity, Cynthia Rowley 1105. I love how easy this dress is to wear and despite it being covered up a cardigan all day I love this bow detailing on the back.

Day 11

So if you know me, Busted were my favourite band growing up. I mean I was obsessed! Imagine my delight when they decided to reunite 12 years after their break up. Sheer joy! Anyway I digress, for this wonderful day I wore my Tilly and the Buttons Arielle skirt in a maroon cord. When i went to work I paired it with my striped top and swapped this for black body suit for the evening. More action from my bandana and the Busted scarf I’ve kept since I was 13.

Day 12

I can’t go long without wearing colour and print, so by Thursday I was back in this Simplicity dress in this gorgeous floral fabric I bought last year in Copenhagen

Day 13

Another Copenhagen fabric, this time for my self drafted skirt. By Friday I was exhausted so I was keeping it casual with this outfit.

Day 14

This is one of my favourite dresses. It fits so well and this Liberty fabric is just perfect. It was day 2 of my Pattern Cutting course at LCF so I spent the day working with these tiny blocks, how cute!

So that’s Week 2 done. You may have noticed I wasn’t feeling having my picture taken this week, so lots of flat lays

What I have learnt?

While I know I don’t need to wear a different me made piece for the whole of May, what I’ve realised this week is that I’m nearing the end of being able to wear something different each day. I’ve also realised I’ve been slacking with sewing recently, I have a whole pile of fabric just waiting to be sewn and showcased this May. Therefore, my aim for this next week is to make myself at least one new thing. Check back next week to see if I manage to do it.
