So back at the end of August I went on a trip to California and literally had the best time of my life.
We went for 2 weeks starting in LA and ending in San Francisco. This is going to be a four part blog post breaking down where we went, what we did, what we ate etc etc. This first part will focus on our first four days in the LA area.
Some general information about our stay in LA. We stayed in a lovely Airbnb located in Sherman Oaks, which turned out to be the perfect location to get around to all the different places we wanted to visit. Daisy who we were staying with was very accommodating and in our little separate room we had privacy and were free to come and go as we please. We also had a hire car which we picked up from LAX airport and kept till we reach San Francisco. So what did we do?
We had to wait around for our Airbnb to be ready do we checked out the local area hitting up Target, Wholefoods, Trader Joes and having breakfast and Denny’s to really get ourselves accustomed to American life. We also picked up some donuts I had preordered from California Donuts for Charlie’s birthday.
Then once we had checked in we drove straight to the Huntington Beach area, which was magical from that moment I was ready not to come back. The whole area is beautiful, we then drove on to Laguna Beach before heading to the Anaheim Angels game where we indulged on the first of many hot dogs and garlic fries.
We went to Disneyland! I was beyond excited before we got there so we arrived early and with the extended summer hours we left late. With the extra time we had, we went to both parks and didn’t regret it because we had plenty of time for both. Disneyland truly is the happiest place on earth.
Starting the day at Grand Central Market for some Eggslut (OMG so good!) we explored DTLA.
We geeked out over the spots from 500 Days of Summer and spent quite a while in The Last Bookstore and Amoeba Music.
We ate so much food at Big Wangs. I think this was the day we found hardest to navigate because although we saw lots of the things we wanted there was a bit of driving around where not much was seen.
Day 4 (Our last day in LA)
The morning was spent exploring Santa Monica where we did lots of shopping before heading to Venice. We did more shopping on Abbotts Kinney which was such a cool road with interesting shops and good Lemonade.
We quickly walked around the canals which were so peaceful and beautiful before making a super quick visit to the beach because we had to head back to get ready for the real highlight of the day…. TAYLOR SWIFT at the Staples Centre. It was magical, amazing everything you want from a Taylor Swift Concert and Charlie even got a favourited tweet from Taylor herself. Not jealous… We ended the night with a stop at a dodgy In and Out burger joint.
So that’s it for part 1 of my California Adventure blogs. Next up we visit Palm Springs so check back because it was awesome!
